Japanese Lessons at the Time of Earthquake

Jun Kurihara, a Senior Fellow of the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance
and Innovation, addresses his effort to establish a trilateral intellectual
dialogue among Japan, China, and the United States. In this connection, he
refers to concrete cases of Sino-Japanese cooperation¡ªcrisis management at
the time of earthquake. Currently, China is building a large number of
nuclear power plants to meet its growing electricity demand. With lingering
memories of the Sichuan earthquake, China can draw Japan's lessons at a
nuclear power plant accident at the time of an earthquake in Japan in 2007.
