MIT Chinese Association of Science and Technology (CAST) is organizing an
innovation and entrepreneurship seminar on Sunday, Feb. 24. We will invite Dr.
Dennis Xu, the Chairman of Viaon Technology in Suzhou China, to give us a
presentation about Viaon Technology. After his presentation, Clive Zhu, the
official from Suzhou Industrial Park will give another presentation about the
entrepreneurship in Suzhou Industrial Park, China. Please check the following

****Brief Introduction of Viaon Technology****
Viaon Technology which was founded in Suzhou in 2005 by a team of Chinese
oversea returnees from the USA. The company is also financially backed by US
venture capitalists. It is headquartered in Suzhou with sale offices in
Shanghai, Shenzhen, Beijing and Shenyang. It also has an R&D arm in Silicon
Valley. Currently the company has about 100 employees worldwide.
Viaon is an IC design company, focusing on DAB/T-DMB channel demodulator. Its
targeting applications are mobile digital TV IC and Portable Device IC, a huge
emerging market in China and Europe. In 2007, Viaon has developed 2 ICs with
one in mass production. It plans to develop 3 more ICs with two in mass
production in 2008.
****Brief Bio. of Dr. Dennis Xu****
Dr. Dennis Xu is the Chairman of the Board of Viaon Technology Corp. He earned
his B.Sc. (Hons.) degree in Electrical and Automation Engineering from Tianjin
University, China. He earned his Ph.D. degree from University of Manchester,
UK. He did his post-doctoral fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Xu served as Assistant Director of Science and Engineering Computing
Facility at Yale, as a special advisor at Information Technology Center of
Harvard University School of Medicine. Dr. Xu also has held industry positions
in the USA, including Director of Asian Operation at ETechnology Corp.,
President of UltraChina Inc. based in Connecticut, a Senior Advisor for MX
America based in Silicon Valley. He is also a Visiting Fellow at Department of
Electrical Engineering of Yale University, a Visiting Professor at Tsinghua
University, China., a Guest Professor at Tianjin University and Xiamen
University, China.
