CDA Raptor Client

Introduction

Raptor is client software that allows you to search the Harvard Digitas Course Decision Assistant database, which integrates information from the FAS Courses of Instruction, the CUE Guide, and the Confi Guide. Raptor also provides extensive scheduling capabilities, giving you visual tools with which to plan your semester.

Installing Raptor

Step 1. First download a suitable Java Virtual Machine (JVM) for your computer. Links to JVM's for each platform are provided below. When installing, you may simply choose the default options; Raptor does not require anything special.
  1. Windows 95/98/NT
  2. MacOS 8.x
  3. Linux
  4. Digital Unix 4.0, OpenVMS, Alpha NT
    (this is already installed on the DUX FAS ice machines)
  5. Solaris 2.x

Step 2. Next, download the Raptor program itself.

Platform Instructions
Windows 95/98/NT
  1. Download the Windows installer
  2. Launch the file "Raptor Installer.exe"
MacOS 8.x
  1. Download the MacOS installer
  2. Extract the file "Raptor Installer.bin" with a program like StuffIt Expander if your browser doesn't do this automatically.
  3. Double-click the "Raptor Installer" program to launch it.
Unix
  1. Download the UNIX installer
  2. Run the installer with the command
    sh ./Raptor_Installer.bin
Other
  1. Download the install.zip file
  2. Add the file install.zip to your classpath and start the main class of the installer named install.

For help with using the client, there is a webpage here. This same page can also be viewed directly from the client by using the ( Help | Help with Raptor ) menu item in Raptor itself.
