10,000 pairs of Harvard eyes...on you.

Digitas is pleased to offer the sale of advertisements on this website. For student organizations, merchants, and vendors alike, advertising on our webpages is a unique opportunity for you to expose your group, establishment, or product to the Harvard undergraduate community and beyond.

In a typical month, the Digitas website welcomes over 10,000 visitors, of which some 6,000 are Harvard students. That means that over the course of an academic year, an advertisement you place on a Digitas webpage will be seen well in excess of 70,000 times by Harvard undergrads and 120,000 times overall. That makes a serious impression.

Digitas' audience within Harvard spans the entire student community. Our website aims to provide services that are essential to all undergraduate students. Among these include:

  1. Course Decision Assistant: an on-line searchable course catalog

  2. Digitas Guide to Life at Harvard an on-line catalog of student organizations at Harvard

What's unique about our website is that we are the ONLY organization on campus, college or student run, that provides this set of services. Students rely on Digitas to help them navigate the web and organize their academic and social lives. Our website is fast becoming the center of online activity at Harvard University. And now you have the chance to be in the middle of it all.

What Advertising Options Does Digitas Offer?

First let us define the term "impression", which we use in packaging and pricing our advertising. An impression is defined as an event in which the graphic representing an advertisement is downloaded and viewed by a target individual's web browser. We use this term instead of the more ambiguous term "hit" because it lets the advertiser know exactly how many times his/her advertisement has been seen. In addition, this means that regardless of how many people visit Digitas' website in a given span of time, you always get what you pay for. More specifically, if you purchase 10,000 impressions, your ad will run until it has been seen 10,000 times, guaranteed. This means you don't have to worry about seasonal lulls in website activity resulting from, for example, Christmas break.

What Do Advertisements Look Like?

Well, you design them yourself. They must be GIF or JPEG format graphics of dimensions 468x60 pixels. Graphics can link to an e-mail address or webpage of your choosing, or it can simply be static. The following graphic is of the proper dimensions:

How Are Advertisments Displayed?

Advertisements are not attached to any single webpage on the Digitas site. Instead, each time a page with an advertising slot is downloaded to be viewed, a new advertisement is displayed. A viewer will never see the same ad twice consecutively. Ads are chosen to be displayed on webpages on a strict rotating basis.

Who Do I Talk To?

E-mail us at staff@digitas.harvard.edu to find out more about purchasing advertising.

Can Account-Holders on Digitas Advertise?

Yes, student groups who hold accounts on the Digitas server may also choose to sell advertisements for their own webpages. Groups wishing to do so must pay a service fee of $50 per semester to Digitas. They will be responsible for administering their own advertising and are not bound to any of the pricing plans used by Digitas for its own advertising. Digitas will support the student groups insofar as that support falls within the scope of normal system and account maintenance.
