Harvard Digitas is an undergraduate organization
officially registered with the Dean of Students Office at Harvard
University.
Founded in 1993 by Jeff Tarr '96, Ishir Bhan '96, and Phil Cartagena
'96, Harvard Digitas was originally a technology interest group.
In the early days of the Internet, Digitas created the first online
publication at Harvard, called Elektra, and helped to promote the
awareness of emerging technologies such as the world-wide web.
Since then, the technology landscape has changed dramatically,
and so too has Digitas. The Harvard network is an increasingly important
part of students' daily lives. We believe that the next step is
to move beyond simple uses of the network. It is now feasible as
well as desirable to begin building a second generation of network
services on top of the existing infrastructure that will further
enhance college life.
Harvard Digitas sees itself as one of the key players in this new
wave of network development. Being composed of undergraduates, we
are attuned to the needs of students and understand how technology,
and the Harvard network in particular, can be taken advantage of
to serve those needs best.
We invite anyone who shares the vision we've outlined here to join
us. The only requirements for membership are an interest in improving
student life, and an enthusiasm that matches that of Digitas as
an organization.
To find out more about who Digitas is, you can look over our constitution,
meet our executive board or browse a list of our undergraduate members.
